Who can play?
Anyone! USA Hockey and JYH welcome all youth players ages 4-19 in our community the option to register and play in our programs.
Financial Concerns?
JYH helps families with financial concerns via the Scott Smith Scholarship Fund and USA Hockey helps families with financial concerns through its Membership Relief Fund.
What about hockey equipment?
JYH can help make recommendations for finding gear. The gear list can be found on the Player Resource page.
Are the coaches qualified?
All JYH and USA Hockey coaches receive annual, age-appropriate training and are fully certified. All team managers, coaches, and volunteers are required be certified in USA Hockey SafeSport Training.
What about girls hockey?
Hockey is not just a boy's sport. Here at JYH all younger levels are co-ed and then we have an all girls U16 and U19 team.
What if I, as a parent or player, don't know anything about hockey?
You don't need to know anything! (Except parents dress warm at the rinks). Our Jackson Youth Hockey community welcomes new parents and players all the time with open arms. You will have the opportunity to make new friends in the stands or on the ice and learn more about the sport.
Common misconceptions for your introduction to hockey....."skating is hard", "hockey is dangerous", "my kids can't play if I never did".
For Jackson Youth Hockey, hockey is more than just a game with a stick and puck. We strive to help players develop lifelong skills, friendships, and a love for the sport all while supporting a safe environment for you child to take risks and learn.
